Computer Help Please!!!

Visiting a few different internet sites and now I have a problem. I keep getting this window popping up that says "file download" and the site is from an IP address like 85.800.5 and the window gives you the option to open/save/cancel. Obviously I keep hitting cancel however every minute or so it pops up again.

How can I get this removed? How can I search for it or find a program from download.com to get rid of it?

you can download a few adware/spyware programs that are pretty good at getting rid of those things. You can download them for free from www.zdnet.com. Just do a search under the downloads area.

ADAWARE SE is one program that I run
SPYBOT is the other program that I run

They're both free.

For starters, you should make sure your Messenger Service is disabled:

Start
Settings
Control Panel,
click Administrative Tools,
click Services.
Scroll down to "Messenger".
Right click "Messenger" and select Properties.
Then under Start-up select DISABLE
Click OK and follow prompts

When my computer gets hijacked, it's usually some bullshit security software that they're trying to push on me. I have to run Spybot & Adaware everyday for several days. For some reason, about 3 days later, the nasty shit is off my computer. I'd run those 2 programs over & over for a couple days straight, and see if it helps.

I should have mentioned that it's best to run Spybot, Adaware, and other removal tools while your computer is in "safe mode". Restart your computer and while it's restarting tap the CTRL key every second or so and a menu will come up prompting you if you want to start in safe mode.
